AMD Quad FX Platform with Dual Socket Direct Connect Architecture Features Four Processing Cores with a Seamless Upgrade to Eight Cores
AMD Quad FX Platform Features Seamless Upgrade to Quad-Core Processors

Director

The AMD Quad FX platform features two AMD Athlon™ 64 FX dual-core processors and a total of four processing cores, with a path to upgrade seamlessly to a total of eight processing cores when AMD quad-core processors are available.

AMD64 technology was designed from the ground up to be optimized for multiple cores. The Dual Socket Direct Connect Architecture featured in the AMD Quad FX platform is AMD’s exclusive high-bandwidth interconnect for two multi-core processors. Plus, the integrated memory controller is designed to reduce memory access latencies for leading-edge performance when megatasking.
