I’ve worked in microprocessor design in various roles my entire career, all 24 years. Microprocessor design has all the characteristics of a great adventure. At the North Austin Design Center, we’re always trying to find new ways to leap forward, innovate, outsmart, outguess. Most folks in Austin don’t realize AMD has a microprocessor design site located in the Arboretum. It’s our stealth move…come check us out.

I joined AMD 12 years back as a design manager. In those days it is accurate to describe AMD as followers. We certainly delivered great designs but we were not leading the market with innovative new products. It has simply been amazing to be part of the transformation that has occurred as we developed our Athlon, Athlon64 and Opteron products. Our designers take a great deal of pride in our successes and continually look for ways to improve our designs and productivity. We have a great atmosphere here in South Austin and it is truly a pleasure to work with this team.
As the South Austin, Texas Design Leader it is my goal to continue nurturing an environment for our world class engineering team to innovate bleeding edge X86 processors.
