Everyone's talking about the new 690 platform.
Check out what some of the pros are saying about the new 690 features:
|
"The HD video playback was tested... and I can tell you that we did watch some 1080p movies that were encoded in H.264 and VC-1 and the experience was pretty good."
|
 |
"...we were already big fans of AMD's 690 chipset due to the platform's outstanding array of features. With the recently added performance and overclocking tweaks AMD and their board partners have implemented, the 690 platform is even better than ever." |
| |
 |
"...The new BIOS features also gave us the ability to overclock the board's HyperTransport link to over 1.5GHz, which was an increase of approximately 50% over "stock" which is very good for an inexpensive chipset with an IGP." |

1 For HD configurations, AMD recommends a 2.2 GHz CPU or higher for MPEG2 and VC1 and 2.8 GHZ CPU or higher for H.264. For all other configurations, AMD recommends the following: Resolution - 1080p; Memory - 2 x 1GB; UMA Size - 256MB; OS - Windows Vista Home Premium; Player - Cyberlink 7.3 Release Date: 7/31/07 or later
2 Better performance over the previous version of the AMD 690 platform
3 1080P technology is offered by certain ATI Radeon™ GPUs. Not all products have all features and full enablement of some capabilities may require complementary products. Please check with board partners to ensure full capability.
AMD's ATI Radeon™HD 2600 and ATI RAdeon™ 2400 GPUs are capable of full 1080P processing, however not all ATI Radeon graphics cards can process full 1080P. Please check the applicable ATI Radeon graphics card specification to determine if a particular ATI Radeon graphics card can process 1080P. For third parties that manufacture graphics cards containing ATI Radeon GPUs -- you can inquire of them which models, if any, are capable of 1080P processing. |
